Who we are

Career Compass (careercompass-global.com) is an independent career-guidance site based in Sweden. For questions about this policy or to exercise any right below, contact info@careercompass-global.com.

What we process

• Your choices, stored in your browser. Selected country, interface language, shortlisted careers and completed exercises are kept in local storage on your device so the site looks the same next visit. We can not read them from our servers.
• Consent records. When you accept or decline cookie categories we store a record of that choice so we can prove it and honour it.
• Account and chat data. If you create an account, your email address and saved conversations with our assistant are stored so you can return to them. Guest chat is not stored.
• Usage measurement. With your consent we record which careers and filters are opened, in aggregate, to decide what to write next. This does not build a profile of you.

Advertising

The site is funded by advertising. Google AdSense is only loaded after you consent to advertising cookies; if you decline, no advertising script is requested at all. If you consent to non-personalised ads only, we pass that signal to Google. Google may use cookies to serve and measure ads in accordance with its own policies. Details of every cookie and third party are on the cookie policy page, where you can also change your consent at any time.

Legal basis and retention

Necessary storage relies on legitimate interest in operating the site. Advertising and measurement rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Account data is kept while the account exists and deleted on request. Consent records are kept for as long as required to demonstrate compliance.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and you may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in Sweden, IMY). Email us and we respond within 30 days.

Children

The site is written for students, including under-18s, and is designed to work without an account. We do not knowingly collect more than the minimum described above, and we do not sell personal data.
